Twisted Ankle :(

This is what I wore yesterday to run some errands.  I love this little Calvin Klein dress because it so comfortable I forget I have it on.  It's easy to wear and I'm not pulling or pinching or shifting it around; it's just so easy to wear.  I've been wearing a lot of black and white this summer and stripes.  I have quite a bit of color in my wardrobe, but you wouldn't know it by looking at my posts.  It's just the color palette I gravitate to.  I did add a punch of color with the orange scarf, but it was so hot that was removed after about 3 minutes.  I'm wearing my trusty flat snake print sandals.

I am not a 'sitter'.  I am always on the go, always moving and doing things.  I like to fill my days and nights with purpose no matter how great or small.  I like to accomplish things; I like to check things off of my to-do list.  Last night, I was flitting about the house, tidying up after everyone and twisted my ankle on the stairs.  Yikes, it hurt.
I did the RICE treatment (Rest, Ice,Compression, Elevation) before I went to bed and thought it would be fine by this morning.  Not so.  Still hurts.  I am a former paramedic and so I called on my skills to examine and evaluate...no signs of a fracture, thankfully...but a good sprain for sure.
I have some dance events scheduled for later in the week so today I am going to fight my busy nature and SIT, rest and try to let my body take its natural healing course.  Not going to be easy, but I will just keep my eye on the prize of dancing on the weekend, practicing for my September competition.
Can I just sit and relax for one whole day?
I guess we will see.

  1. Hope your ankle is better soon. I sympathise - I over-stretched my achielles and it has taken weeks to feel right.

  5. The orange scarf is a great touch! Dang on the sprained ankle! Sounds like you know how to care for it. I fell off my bike yesterday and suspect that I sprained my right wrist.

  7. I totally relate. I take ballet classes 4 to 5 times a week and very active by nature so when I get an injury I feel completely lost and do not know who I am. Best wishes of healing soon so you can get on with your passion for dance.
