The shoes are dance shoes and the clear band you see across the instep is to keep the shoe snug and in place. |
Tonight, I went to Marcel's dance party.
I wore this black lace thrifted dress (Valerie Bertenelli). The black lace is a nod to a post by Veshoevius and her tribute to black lace.
Nothing screams feminine like black lace.
Marcel gave me some photos that one of his students shot at the last comp.
Overall, I'm pleased with them...but there are still things that need to be addressed!
I'm grateful that I have a few friends who were able to get shots of me. I'm happy to have the opportunity to learn from my mistakes, captured in still pictures.
The professional competition photographer has been complaining about amateur photographers at the comp taking photos and infringing on their business. Its possible that the next comp may ban cameras. That would be too bad, because I would just have to do without photos in that case. I just can't see paying the ridiculous prices charged by the pros, who may get 1 or two decent shots and a few others that are usually not good. I have gotten better photos from my friends with cameras!
I promise that this is the last batch of photos from this last competition. I'm done competing for the year....my next one is in February and that's a big one for me; The Indiana Challenge, my favorite.
Ok.....I'm sure you have all had enough of my dance photos. Thank you for indulging my dance passion.
It's the weekend.
Time to relax.
Or in my case. time to grade tests.
Enjoy your weekend and be safe out there.
You look sensational in black lace! In case you didn't see my reply on my blog I really enjoyed your story you wrote in the comments in my post about the first time you wore black lace!
ReplyDeleteWonderful comp photos! I know you are probably looking at them super critically to improve your technique but all I see is wonderful movement, postures, expression and fabulous costumes!
Thank you...I appreciate the input of a fellow dancer. I really want to learn flamenco!
DeleteLove the black lace dress and your pink dance dress. So elegant!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I didn't style the black dress at all...just threw it on and ran out the door to dance!
DeletePlease don't apologize for posting too many pics! I love seeing your dancing, and I wouldn't notice any of your "faults" if you didn't point them out.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sheila!
DeleteI think its good for me to analyze my photos....I strive for greatness! LOL...
Thank you for your words of encouragement!
No need to apologize: we love your competition photos. So glamorous. And your black lace dress is zehr pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of banning photography is so wrong. We lawyers call it an "antitrust violation" for its anti-competitive effect. It's even worse when the pros don't give you good shots.
Thank you for the compliment.
DeleteI may do some digging to find out more about that "anti-trust violation". I simply want my family and friends to take some photos...they aren't trying to sell anything. There are also videographers who have everything locked up...there is no videotaping allowed. They charge a disproportionate amount of money for these 2 minute video clips! (Around $60.00)
I adore your black lace dress, so classy yet sexy.
ReplyDeleteI'm also crazy about ballroom-dancing so I loved your pics!
Lynne...do you actually ballroom dance, or do you spectate? If you dance, so you compete?
DeleteThank you for the compliment!
I love your dance photos, stunning!
ReplyDeleteAlso loving the black lace dress, such a classic.

What Lola Wants
Thank you, Adrienne...I'm glad you enjoy them!
Deleteis it possible to video tape your dance. It could then be edited for stills. Again, my eye is totally blind to the errors you point out!
ReplyDeleteTerri...videotaping is absolutely not allowed. There are videographers at comps and they don't like competition so video is banned. :(
DeleteWhat a gorgeous thrifted dress!

Thank you! I have good luck with thrifting dresses!
DeleteI wants a twirly, swirly dress... *sigh*
ReplyDeleteLoving the black lace one, even if it is a step back into reality!
Most girls want a swirly dress!
DeleteI love looking at your photos! I can dream....
ReplyDeleteWould make a good present for your hubby....dance lessons!!?? Or for you....
DeleteYour competition photos are the best, I love how you critique each one so we all learn a little bit while admiring how beautifully you dance. (I love, LOVE that pink dress, it's gorgeous the way it spins out at the bottom.)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katie.....I love the spin factor too! Thank you for your sweet comments !
DeleteYou look wonderful in the black lace dress and absolutely amazing in the pick dress you wore for the competition! The photos are excellent, and you can probably use them to see what else you can do to further refine your dancing skills. I bet you’re practicing hard right now to prepare for your upcoming competition. Good luck!
