The first day of November was cool, sunny and beautiful. I love this weather.
I recreated the Polyvore outfit that I posted yesterday....
I spent a lovely afternoon with Rose, my childhood neighbor and friend. We ate lunch at yet another sweet little sandwich and ice cream shop in my midwest hometown. I think the town I grew up in is a mecca of cute little vintage-y restaurants, hip restaurants and fine dining, bars, high end ladies clothing stores, gift shops, primitives home decor shops and antique shops. The town square centers around the old courthouse and its always bustling with activity....car show, festivals, musical events and more.
There's an old fashioned movie theater and tickets are cheap.....the old stairway to the bathroom is creepy and you walk past the projection room to get there. There is dinner theater in the old courthouse and a playhouse (theater) on the square. Its a pretty fun city to live near.
Today's restaurant choice was Valentino's. I've mentioned them on this blog before and even posted some information and photos, but I haven't shared the experience with you....
Valentino's is Rudolph Valentino themed. Don't you love this old fashioned cash register? You can barely see it in the picture, but the silver handle on the register (under the neon) is a crank handle.
The soup and sandwiches are very tasty and the place is almost always busy. Its a beloved spot.
RV, for those of you who don't know was a silent screen star...very handsome, very popular...the king of making ladies swoon....
one of the upper levels....the floor is beautiful, the architectural details are authentic. Some have been restored to their original beauty.
Looking through the old glass window to see the original courtroom. About 20 years ago, the city began holding court in here again.
.....'I should just escape now' This building is incredible. I enjoyed exploring it with Rose today. Unfortunately, Rose is camera shy, so I didn't post her; but I did get a picture......
Rose and I were talking about growing up in this town and not realizing what beautiful, historical, architectural treasures we were surrounded by.
We surely appreciate them now.
I feel so fortunate to have them so nearby to explore.
Christmas season on the square is breathtaking when the snow falls, the hot chocolate abounds and horse drawn carriage rides await.
I can't wait to share that with you.
....oh, and of course my two oldest sons costumes; or alter egos, I should say...Hulk Hogan and Randy, Wild Man Savage.
and here's my Wednesday teaching outfit. Nothing extra special, but I do love the color combination.
Did I wear you out with all of those pictures?
The weekend is upon us...hope you all enjoy.
I have one more costume/dance party to possibly attend.....hmmmmm; we shall see...
Awww, I love all of your family photos, your grandson is just the cutest little guy! (He's got the cutest little round cheeks, so kissable!)
ReplyDeleteThis little town just sounds so fun to walk around and explore, that building is just gorgeous! Your new jean skirt is so lovely, it can be really hard to find a properly fitting one! (They're either so long or so short!) You styled this one perfectly, I love the mix of the black leather jacket and the brown boots with it.
Thank you, Katie. I am really liking my new denim skirt!
