Spring/Summer Wardrobe Update and.....BIG NEWS!

Hi everyone...I have some big news that I'm going to share at the end of this post; but first I want to start with a spring wardrobe update.

I tried on these skinny jeans because I like my new ones so much, I wanted another pair.  I just love the pair in my last post and really want another just like it, but they were the last pair.  I do like these...not quite as much, but enough to make them part of my new spring/summer wardrobe update.

This is the top of a really cute new London Times dress that I thrifted.

.....and an adorable little thrifted INC summer skirt came home with me too.

...thrifted Worthington top to expand my black skirt options

striped nautical skirt, thrifted

....there are a few non-thrifted items too..Chalet top has a subtle peplum bottom and is very flattering

....saddle shoe pump oxfords that I've been seeking forever..

this Neon Buda cotton cardigan looks kind of shapeless but is nipped in at the waist for a really flattering fit

...the color on this cardigan is really more periwinkle; its super soft and comfy

...and  tunic!  Since I don't wear shorts, I thought this would look so cute with little capri leggings and sandals on hot days

...Chalet skirt; this has a slightly hi-lo hemline and its so me

....really unique, reversible jacket with an Asian feel...it doesn't look cute in the picture but it is adorable.

...couldn't resist this pretty, feminine top..

or this ruffle detail top...

...or this lace skirt

...or this gorgeous and flattering cardigan.

I overdid it on the wardrobe update.  I probably have a bit of buyer's remorse that I don't usually experience because I thrift most of my clothing.
In the spring; I usually feel like I need a boost.
I boosted.

.....and I over-rewarded myself a bit...
because...
beginning in May 20th, I will start the job I have always dreamed of!

I will be working for the state's Department of Child Services in my local county.
I'm beyond excited.
And feeling thankful and blessed.
I've worked hard on school and my degrees and now..
I'm going to work even harder to protect the welfare of children.
This is an honor and I feel so humbled and grateful!

  1. Woo hoo! That's so exciting! Congratulations, Lisa!

And look at all those lovely pieces - my favourites are the white shirt with all the different buttons (I adore details like that), the shoes, the Asian jacket, the blouse with the pearl collar (so pretty!), and the lace skirt.

I often feel a little guilty for buying so much nice stuff when I'm out thrifting, but there is nothing wrong with it as a hobby. Lots of people spend their money on all kinds of different things - we shouldn't feel guilty for spending it on clothes. We're giving our money to a good cause, too.

    Anyway, so happy for you!

Spring and summer are more difficult for me to dress for than winter and fall...but I think I have a good start.

  8. Wow, that's quite a good haul! I'm always jealous when I see what people have thrifted because I think they got all the good stuff. I think I just need to go more often. All this stuff looks gorgeous, and congratulations on your dream job! Looks like it's going to be a good year!

    1. Hi Val. there are some keys to good thrift shopping....you do need to go fairly often...don't go when seasons are transitioning because the store is getting rid of past season things and have little to choose from. Lots of ways to do better at thrifting...maybe I'll do a post on it sometime.

Thank you for your words of encouragement!

The items you like best seem to be the ones everyone else does too. Especially the Asian style jacket which was the one thing I was most hesitant about.

Great finds you've made. The beaded top is fabulous and I am looking forward to see the London Times dress. I also don't wear shorts but a tunic over capri leggings is a good choice!
