Hi everyone...I have some big news that I'm going to share at the end of this post; but first I want to start with a spring wardrobe update.
I tried on these skinny jeans because I like my new ones so much, I wanted another pair. I just love the pair in my last post and really want another just like it, but they were the last pair. I do like these...not quite as much, but enough to make them part of my new spring/summer wardrobe update.
....there are a few non-thrifted items too..Chalet top has a subtle peplum bottom and is very flattering
this Neon Buda cotton cardigan looks kind of shapeless but is nipped in at the waist for a really flattering fit
...and tunic! Since I don't wear shorts, I thought this would look so cute with little capri leggings and sandals on hot days
....really unique, reversible jacket with an Asian feel...it doesn't look cute in the picture but it is adorable.
I overdid it on the wardrobe update. I probably have a bit of buyer's remorse that I don't usually experience because I thrift most of my clothing.
In the spring; I usually feel like I need a boost.
I boosted.
.....and I over-rewarded myself a bit...
because...
beginning in May 20th, I will start the job I have always dreamed of!
I will be working for the state's Department of Child Services in my local county.
I'm beyond excited.
And feeling thankful and blessed.
I've worked hard on school and my degrees and now..
I'm going to work even harder to protect the welfare of children.
This is an honor and I feel so humbled and grateful!
Woo hoo! That's so exciting! Congratulations, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteAnd look at all those lovely pieces - my favourites are the white shirt with all the different buttons (I adore details like that), the shoes, the Asian jacket, the blouse with the pearl collar (so pretty!), and the lace skirt.
I often feel a little guilty for buying so much nice stuff when I'm out thrifting, but there is nothing wrong with it as a hobby. Lots of people spend their money on all kinds of different things - we shouldn't feel guilty for spending it on clothes. We're giving our money to a good cause, too.
Anyway, so happy for you!
Thanks for adding a new perspective on this, Sheila. I never thought of it that way...although my 'other' hobby of ballroom dancing is on the pricey side too!
DeleteCongratulations! It's so nice to hear you are working in a position you dreamed about. Outfit looks great, well done on the shopping:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joanna. I'm super excited about it.
DeleteCongrats Lisa! So glad you have the job you have dreamed for! And what great fashion finds! I am really loving the orange tunic, striped skirt and the pretty top with the pretty collar details. Looking forward to see how you will style your new finds!

DeleteCongratulations for the job Lisa!
ReplyDeleteYou found a very versatile spring wardrobe, cute pieces. I look forward to seeing you wearing them. I know what you mean with the boost in spring. I feel the same. Mainly before spring really starts.
Thank you, Sabine. I'm thrilled about the job.
DeleteSpring and summer are more difficult for me to dress for than winter and fall...but I think I have a good start.
Congratulations on your new job dear Lisa! I understand that being happy about it you decided to reward yourself with so many new purchases :) I especially like the striped skirt and the Asian style jacket.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Olga.
DeleteI wasn't sure about the Asian print jacket....I kind of liked it...and then tried it on and loved it.
Wow, that's quite a good haul! I'm always jealous when I see what people have thrifted because I think they got all the good stuff. I think I just need to go more often. All this stuff looks gorgeous, and congratulations on your dream job! Looks like it's going to be a good year!
ReplyDeleteHi Val. there are some keys to good thrift shopping....you do need to go fairly often...don't go when seasons are transitioning because the store is getting rid of past season things and have little to choose from. Lots of ways to do better at thrifting...maybe I'll do a post on it sometime.
DeleteThank you for your words of encouragement!
So I love those saddle shoes and that nautical skirt!
