I'll be out of town for training for several weeks for my new job in May. I've compiled this capsule of pieces to take with me. The dress code is business professional for the first day and business casual for the rest of the week. I think this will cover it all, including activities after the training. I'll be choosing items from my own wardrobe that are very close to these pieces. The major difference will be that 90% of mine have been thrifted!
I have curves. I've struggled to dress my body to flatter my pear shape. I've finally learned to work with my dangerous curves. I finally accept that this is MY shape; I've made peace with my body. I encourage other pear shaped ladies to accept and love their shape; it is a beautiful, classic womanly shape. I'm also a ballroom dance lover. I'll share what I've learned about dressing for dance, competition, ballroom glitter, sparkle and glamour.

A Capsule for out of town training

I think it's totally smart to stick with the same color palette .. lots o' black to mix and match ;-)

Thanks Monica....I love a black and white palette. The challenge for me was to add some color!
DeleteGreat pops of color here and even better that yours is mostly thrifted! Good Luck on the training and new job!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tracy!
DeleteNice choice Lisa, you can combine different things and look differently. Good luck with your training!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Olga. It will make getting dressed out of a suitcase much easier.
DeleteHey Lisa
ReplyDeleteThis should work very well !
Maybe you can add some khakis, they always come in handy.
Good luck-
Good call, Lorena! I'd like to find some nice straight leg Khakis.
DeleteThere is many pieces I would like to own from your capsule! Especially the black and white dress and the blue peplum cardigan. I love to plan a head for my business travel too!
ReplyDeleteThis will be the first time I've ever travelled for business! I travel for ballroom competitions sometimes, but that is a completely different type of wardrobe.
DeleteI just want to wear things that make me feel confident and comfortable and that don't distract me while I'm sitting in training sessions for eight hours each day!
Fab capsule love the monochrome and splash of colour.
ReplyDeleteThank you.....I do love my monochrome!
DeleteYou're all set! Looks like a very comprehensive collection, very smart and very easy to mix and match :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Carolyn.....I'm excited to wear them all on my new adventure!
Deleteof course the chevron dress is the standout piece for me - so fun!

Brett
Thanks, Brett.
DeleteNow the challenge will be to choose a capsule for every single one of the nine weeks I go out of town!
That is so exciting about your new job, I am so happy that it worked out so well for you! (And it does sound like fun to go out of town for training.) This seems like a great mix of work clothes and items that could be dressed down. I think it's so impressive that you managed to thrift items that look so close to the designer duds, you are a true thrifting queen.
ReplyDeleteKatie....I have been very fortunate with thrifting, but we have so many good thrift shops nearby.
DeleteI'm so excited to start this new adventure. It will be really hard to be away from my son and to tuck him in every night, but hopefully it will go fast.
This looks great, and I think will do you well over your training. The only point of contention: I find it hard to believe you would only wear such a small number of necklaces. :) Are you sure you can't fit a few more in? I always overpack on necklaces because they can change an outfit so drastically.
ReplyDeleteKristen.....great point....you know I like the necklaces. I can easily fit them in but want to keep things simple. Since I have to go to this training for nine to twelve weeks during the week; I figured I would just switch out jewelry each weekend when I'm home. But you are right; I will most definitely want to bring more with!
DeleteThis looks great! These pieces are versatile and I think you'll be able to wear them a lot of different ways. :)
