Hi Everyone!

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures but I want to send much love to my readers.  I've been really busy with this job training and the travel (within the state) that it requires.  I will be posting soon...in the meantime, I need to figure out a way to keep all the spam comments away; I've been inundated.  I will either be moderating comments or using the Captcha again.  Any suggestions, friends?

  1. Personally, I dislike Captcha, but it's your blog and you do what you need to do to get things straightened out. A suggestion- don't allow anonymous comments. Good luck with your new job!

  2. Hi Lisa! Nice to hear from you. I used to have much spam on my blog but then I chose "registered users comments only" in blogger settings and now the situation is fine.

  3. No problem about the absence, honey. We all have busy lives and occasionally they preclude us from blogging.

  4. Good to hear you are ok!
Captcha is something I don't like as often late at night I can't see the letters and numbers and that is quite annoying.
Of course SPAM is even worse and I had to suffer from it as well.

I am using IntenseDebate instead of the blogger comment form.

  5. Hello Lisa! You are one busy lady. Good for you with the new job and training. I have some times when I really hit with spam but it has definitely calmed down. I say do what you need to do with that.
Happy to say hello and happy summer!

  6. I think my blog is set up that once a comment from someone has been approved, they no longer have to wait to be approved to post comments from then on. Not sure if this is an option on blogger?

  7. HI Lisa,
Personally, I find those captcha annoying because sometimes they are just too difficult to read. I was reading a blog once and I really wanted to comment and it wanted me to do a math equation and it kept saying invalid value and I know I can add 2 +2. So I've never gone back to that blog again. I've found that removing the anonymous feature helped eliminate my spam.

  9. I miss you Lisa ... it was so great to wake up and see a comment on my blog from you. I hope that everything, and I mean everything is going great your side.

You need to go with what suits you best - although I despise the captcha, if its needed then so be ... I'd rather have no comments that a bunch of spam :-)

    Happy day to you.

  11. Ive been exactly the same, not enough hours in the day! I think most people prefer to have to sign in to comment and preventing anon comments over captch codes, you can embed Disqus which most people seem to like xx

  13. No worries on your being away ... it's hard to keep content going when you have a life .. lol. I'm taking a break, but still reading everyone else's blogs .. lol.

Yeah, not a fan of Captcha .. but feel free to use it if it makes your life easier.

  15. Hi, Lisa. So good to hear from you!
I don't get a ton of spam and it doesn't show up in my blog comments, but just in my email for some reason. Maybe I've got anonymous posters blocked. I just delete the emails since it's not a too overwhelming amount. But it's annoying though, right?

  16. Please do not install captcha, LOATHE it, it is truly the bane of the blogging world. Disqus also means that some people are no longer able to comment on your blog any more.. some of my regular readers notified me of this by email so I uninstalled it. If you disable anonymous commenting you'll find the spam comments drop off dramatically. I went from about twenty a day down to zero, just by taking this action.

  17. I moderate all my comments. Captchas are good in theory, but most are woefully hard to decipher and tend to turn some readers off of your blog (and blogs in general), so I turned mine off at least a couple of years ago. More spam goes through in the sense that I have to delete it/mark it as spam when I'm approving comments, but I feel like it's totally worth the few minutes a day it takes to free my readers from having to deal with captchas. If the level of spam ever got really out of hand, I'd put it back, but fingers crossed that won't happen.

Wishing you a beautiful Monday & week ahead,
    ♥ Jessica
