Awesome dork-ness

My outfit today is pretty boring.  Yet another black dress.  But a different one.  And another lined up for tomorrow.
Its not about the outfit today.......
Its about my awesome dork-ness that I will share after the outfit photos

I will share my BA shoes today though.  They are Sofft brand and I purchased them on a great sale at Marshall's.  They were clearanced at $20.00; (several months ago).  They are super comfy.

Here's the very unoriginal black dress.....

....with the Lia Sophia jewelry that my husband bought me for Christmas, to boost my inventory for shows.  I will be "advising" my first show on the 14th and I'm super excited.  I love the modern vintage vibe of this necklace.

...and this one too.  The picture truly does not do it justice, but its so very pretty.

ON TO THE STORY OF MY DORK-NESS.....

At the end of the semester, I talk a little bit to my students about being successful in college.....
Today was the last class of the semester...
and.......
When I arrive at the university in the morning, I park in the parking building and walk almost two blocks to the building the classroom is in.
This morning was no different, I was feeling good, and eager to give the final and end the teaching semester.
About 20 feet from the classroom (after the walk across campus), in my periphery I become aware of a lady walking briskly toward me saying "excuse me, excuse me"...when I turn to see if its me she's addressing, she approaches and starts tugging down the skirt of my dress.  She tells me my skirt is riding up in the back..and when I ask her how bad it is, she just nods a sympathetic nod and walks away.  Uh-oh.....I walked across campus this way.  Thank goodness I was wearing black tights.

I'm really glad she caught me before I entered the classroom and gave them the "success" lecture.

  3. I'm laughing and cringing at the same time for you .. thank goodness she caught up with you. I think most of us have had an experience along these lines and its always worse in cooler weather with tights and the static in the air.

Love the outfit and the 'vintage vibe' of that necklace ... I do so love the vintage look

  4. That is horrible! At least the lady was kind enough to help you. I think we have all had those moments at some time in our lives. I love the shoes, especially since purple is my favorite color. The locket type necklace is gorgeous! Heather

  5. Cute anecdote. And I love those shoes. I've been actively looking for a pair exactly like these -- and I shop at Marshall's -- but whenever I see them, they're never big enough. (My size is Ginormous.)

  6. The shoes are gorgeous. The jewelry does look very vintage--that is what I thought it was when I first saw it before I read that it is modern made.
So often strangers will just let you go by without telling you something like that is going on. You are fortunate she told you. I have always lived in fear of having something like that happen. You do look fabulous in the outfit!

  10. Ahhh, that's rough for sure! I once, when I was about 13 years old, had something similar happen at my second cousin's wedding, but luckily I caught the "exposed issue", so to speak, before anyone else had a chance to see. I still shudder at the thought of how many relatives could have easily seen a whole lot more of me than I'd ever want them to!

  12. Thank goodness for women that actually care about other people. I've pointed that out to ladies in the bathroom a few times. And I am guilty of doing that myself too - now I always try to look in the mirror at my backside to make sure I don't walk around with my skirt hiked up.

    BTW - gorgeous jewelry!

  13. Oh my gosh, that's awful! (How lucky that she caught you before you got to your class though!) I walked through the entire Denver airport with my dress tucked into my underwear years ago, I think that was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life when I walked past a window and realized it.

That was such a great deal for your shoes, Softt makes really nice quality shoes and I like the pop of color they add the dress. (The black dress is a great canvas for your shoes and jewelry, it really shows off the gorgeous necklaces.)

    1. Oh...that's funny, Katie!

I do like most of the shoes Sofft makes. I love the way they look, but I do find their sizing inconsistent so I have to be careful in choosing them.
