Today is my Thursday

Every Thursday I unwind from my work week by taking a trip into the downtown area of my hometown.  I have lunch, I thrift, I peruse and I walk.  Sometimes I meet a friend or my cousin Rhonda there, sometimes I go alone.

Taleen wool hat; DKNY bag (purchased at outlet store...best bag I've ever owned); wool jacket, Jones New York; suede boots, Nine West; Leather gloves, Target
Today, I met my son Jayme, who is home from Purdue for the holiday, for lunch at What's the Scoop.  He did snap a couple of pictures for me, but he isn't big on photo ops like Peyton is and the only pictures I got of Jayme were of his hand up in front of his face.

Thrifted top, The Limited; skirt unknown; belt, Betsey Johnson
I dressed a little retro for this trip.  Although today is Wedsnesday it was my substitute for Thursday since tomorrow is the big turkey day.
Instead of Peyton playing photographer, Jayme was the reluctant camera man.
It was nice to hang with my grown-up son.

Yet another hat; this in pink plaid.   Why so my son/photographers always want me to stike silly poses?
Today,I received all of the jewelry I got for hosting my Lia Sophia kick-off party.  I'm really pleased, everything looks much prettier in person than in the pictures.

I earned some free jewelry for hosting and also got seriously discounted pieces for booking and hostess bonuses.  I won't go into details, I'll just say the discount justified the party.  I love this jewelry.
This black necklace is gorgeous in person (Inked).  I love how the matte beads alternate with the shiny beads.  It's a stunner.

The pictures aren't doing any of these pieces justice.  This is a big, bold statement piece (Gotham) by Lia Sophia.  It looks very classy paired with a white button down and jeans, slacks or a skirt.

I could't catch the right light for this, but it's a very delicate bracelet called Ruffle.

Another one that does not photograph nearly as well as it looks.  Here it looks a little blah, but trust me, the translucent beads are  pretty, delicate and feminine.

This on is called Celestial and it really is radiant in real life.  It's on a very long chain and will be so versatile.  The sparkle and light reflection is incredible, but not visible here.

This isn't a Lia Sophia piece, it's my Mom's charm bracelet from high school.  I wore it for the first time today.  I had admired it as a girl and my mom wouldn't ever let me borrow it.  The photography is not good in this pic, but you can almost make out names on the charms. The names represent girls that my hung with; they were a gang of tight-knit gal pals and this bracelet was a symbol of their friendship.  Each charm had one girls name engraved in beautiful script writing.  I found it in my mom's things and had to keep it.  It made a delicate, pretty jingling noise with every movement and I enjoyed wearing it.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I have so much to be thankful for.  Today, I am thankful for my special Thursdays; even when they are spent alone...I'm thankful for the peace, the freedom and the opportunity to enjoy a special day each week.

I hope you have a special day regularly.

  5. Not that you need some extra sparkles as you already has a very sparkling smile, and as it seems from the blog you have a sparkling personality too! However, the jewelry is very pretty and a good deal is a good deal! Nope, I don't have a special day, but I always tries to do somethings fun (pretty often involves shopping) and some relaxing during the weekend! Happy Thanksgiving!

I really just started doing this special day this past summer.

I don't always shop, but it can be hard to resist sometimes. Its just nice to walk around my beautiful hometown and appreciate all of the blessings.

  6. You still look like you are having fun! I went to a friend's Lia Sophia party a couple of years ago, and scored my fave convertible necklace/pendant.

    1. Hi Lynne,

I'm usually trying to have fun!
Glad you love your LS necklace. One thing I love about LS jewelry is that the designs are intentional. They are well thought out designs that make sense; they go with so many different things. I'm hooked!

  7. Such fantastic jewelry - modern, but timeless in the same go, which is such an important element of a piece's staying power, IMO. Each one is a gem (sorry, couldn't resist a little jewelry pun :) ), but I especially like the necklace with the three different colours of briolettes.

    1. Jessica, I'm not surprised that the tri-colored necklace is your favorite; it has kind of a vintage-y feel to it. I love it too, and it was the one I was most eager to get. I get such a huge discount on my samples that I can get lots of pretty things. I do love this line for the very reasons you mentioned, timeless but modern with staying power.

      Pun away!

  8. I have totally fallen for that first pearl like round beaded necklace - it reminds me of the one worn on Two Broke Girls...great buy.
