Hat Infatuation

Peyton and I hung out together in town today; many of the stores were having their Christmas open houses.  We had lunch in our favorite ice cream and sandwich shop and then wandered the stores looking at Christmas decorations.  Of course we had to stop for our photo op.....

Pants, Old Navy; Scarf, JC Penney; Grey turtleneck...thrifted.
The temperature was in the mid 50's today and we were quite comfortable without jackets.

Peyton was really happy with his photography skills.....

...and it was his idea for me to lounge on the Chaise in one of the stores.

Oops...he caught me in motion;

Here's the  other Newsboy cap that I purchased.....

Both hats are by David & Young.  I have a couple of coats and they are all either black or brown....so I wanted one hat for each color.

......and for super cold days, I bought this.  Its more of a head wrap or head band than a hat.....it closes with a little button on the back.  I like it.....but I don't love it; however the point is to have a secure, functional, warm hat for colder days.  I'm a little unsure about it; What do you think?

If you haven't figured it out yet....I have  hat infatuation.  It nearly rivals my shoe fever, but not quite. I prefer to wear a hat or at least take one with me on most days; my infatuation is not just frivolous....I am quite sensitive to even mild extremes in temperature.  Bright sun isn't my friend and neither is the cold.  I like to keep my head, face and skin protected from the elements.

If you look closely, you can see the furry feet of my photo bomber, Lucas Rufus McScruff.

My Peyton enjoys his photo opportunity too.

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

  1. What a nice time together. Peyton is a good photographer! And I think you look great in hats! I have a hard time finding ones that look right or fit my big head.

    1. I often hear women say they don't look good in hats, but I think its a matter of finding the right size and style. Years ago, I couldn't find small enough hats. Now there are more size options. There are some gorgeous larger size hats at T.J. Maxx......I bet you would look great in a cloche style.

  5. How awesome that you're a fellow hat fanatic, too! I think they're such an awesome way to cap off (pun intended :D) an outfit, or even to plan the rest of your look around. It baffles me a bit that hats (especially for women), by and large, fell out of vogue during the 60s (sure they've had "moments" since then, but long gone are the days when most women wouldn't have dreamed of now owning, and frequently wearing, numerous hats) - why wouldn't any woman want another type of accessory to collect and wear? Thank goodness there are lasses like us who love them and still actively wear stylish hats, be they modern or vintage.

  7. I like the head wrap with the flower - it's a little girlier than the newsboy caps (which I also like).

    1. Thanks, Sheila. I like the idea of it; I have to fuss with my hair a bit to wear it, but its growing on me.

  10. Hats are wonderful! I'm with you on this, I love hats as well, they add such an extra element to an outfit and are great for that time when, you know, it gets cold out! That newsboy cap is quite adorable, I like the mixed hounds-tooth pattern.
Your hat collection is quite impressive, that fedora with the feather in it is quite swoon worthy!

    1. Thank you Katie. The newsboy caps are my favorites right now. The feathered fedora was purchased without a feather and then I went on a hunt for the right feather to add to my hat!. I'm very pleased with it.

  12. That hat is so cute on you, and what an awesome collection too! I wear hats in winter when I have to, but otherwise I just haven't found any that i like on me. Having short hair definitely limits my hat-wearing ability!

    1. I think it takes time. I'm definitely willing to try on some hats in little boutiques when I see them to find what I like.
      Thanks you for the compliment.
