Goodbye, Green Dress

In theory, I love this dress.  I love the black and green print and the wrap style but this dress is not a pleasure to wear.  It could be a bad fit.....I'm not really sure, but I was tugging and pulling all day.  I couldn't wait to get home and get out of it.
The top plunges low enough that I need to wear a cami under it, and the cami  kept getting bunched up in the wrap tie on the inside of the dress...so I had an uncomfortable, thick bunch of cami fabric at my waist.  Despite the cami...the top kept shifting and revealing my bra.
As you can see in the pictures...the hem of the dress doesn't meet properly, so it hangs in an unflattering asymmetrical manner.
Worst of all....the wrap tie on the inside of the dress broke!  I had to keep the dress together with safety pins!
I think its just a poor fit for me.
Its too bad, because I felt pretty good about it when I left the house in the morning.

I spent a long day and evening on campus feeling very uncomfortable!
Its time to say goodbye to this pretty dress.
I really do love the pretty print.

I did enjoy wearing my beautiful new Lia Sophia necklace which was also part of the starter kit.  I wanted this necklace badly.......

....and it did not disappoint.  Its really pretty in person and I think I'm going to use it a lot.

My LS kick off party is on Saturday and I'm getting quite a few "can't make it's".  I'm looking forward to the party...but I really want it to be reasonably well attended.
I'm not really a big home party person...but the LS deal was so good I agreed to do it...and if it isn't for me.....I will end up with quite a few beautiful pieces for less the cost of necklace pictured above.

Wish me luck!

  1. Cute dress but sounds like you made a good decision to let it go. Love the necklace! Vintage vibe flying off it and hitting my radar. :) I hope your party turns out well! People can be so very unpredictable in those deals.

    1. Well.....I suppose if only a few show up I will still have my beautiful jewelry as a consolation.
But I really want to make my goal...because there are a few other pieces I would like to have for free!

      I love the necklace too.....

  2. Awwww I want that necklace too! It is hard to get ride of things that you really like but still is not quite right. I have a lovely pair of pink clarks, that I probably should sell on Ebay, but I do love them. Good luck with your new little business, it sound fun, especially getting jewelry to reduced prices! By the way, I am enjoying your country a lot!

    1. I'm so thrilled to have the little necklace.

Glad you are enjoying it here. I need to check out the weather in California to see if its warm and sunny for you. You are in California, right? Maybe you check out the redwood trees....magnificent.
I know you will be busy.
Next year we will meet up in New Orleans for the conference....and I really hope I'm presenting.

  3. Those parties can be tough - good luck! I love the look of the necklace.

Shame about the dress, but it sounds like it was poor quality. Totally not worth keeping! You have so many other lovely dresses!

  4. Too bad about the dress, because the print is awesome. I found when wearing wrap dresses, I like to wear a cami and a slip and a safety pin just in case. Heather

    1. Hi Heather,
I usually have good luck with wrap dresses. I don't like to wear cami's though because they usually ride up....my curves prevent them from lying flat over my hips. ;(

  5. I have one piece of Lia Sophia jewelry, a convertible necklace that I love. Alas, most of it is out of my price range.

Wrap dresses can be terribly flattering, or just plain terrible. I agree that something that isn't comfortable should find a new home. It is a very pretty dress, tho'.

    1. Lynne, LS is out of my price range too,but they usually have some good promotions and a lifetime guarantee...so I feel ok purchasing their pieces. I make sure I really love a piece and that I will wear it often.

By doing the LS business, I received about 20 pieces for $75.00 and I only have a three party obligation. My own party counts and then I consult two parties. If I meet my goal I get a whole bunch of free jewelry...

If it doesn't work out I still do okay. I'm cautiously optimistic.

I agree about wrap dresses...I have a few with no problems, but I prefer faux; they stay put!

  6. Ugh, the awful cami-that-rolls-up situation. That drives me crazy, having that roll of fabric right around your middle is so uncomfortable and just ick. That's a pretty big bummer about this dress, the pattern and the green color is really lovely on you but if it's something that you're not comfortable wearing or has all of those problems, then its just not worth keeping. :P
(I do love your necklace! The cameo in the middle is gorgeous!)

    1. I know, Katie! I can't stand that feeling...and it makes me look bulky in the middle! Thank your for the compliment. I do love the pattern, but it isn't worth keeping b/c it feels so yuck.

The cameo is what really got me on that necklace.

  7. I love the print too - but as you say, if you feel uncomfortable in it why hold on to it. I need to do this with some things in my closet too.
    That cameo necklace is stunning!

  8. That necklace is such a gorgeous work of art! I adore jewelry with classic cameos so much, too, and find I especially turn to mine when the temperatures start dropping (cameos just look so good against winter's heavy, luxurious fabrics).

  10. Sorry you had a bad experience with the dress ... it is very pretty but I know for me, I'd come home and put it straight in my sell/giveaway pile.

Love the necklace ... need to now go look at this range - never heard of it.

  13. I've learned that nothing justifies being uncomfortable. A dress or other item that tugs and pulls distracts us from life and is an annoyance. Better to replace such an item than suffer with it.

  15. Wrap dresses are so deceptive; they seem like they should work on everyone, but in truth they are terrible for pears. I have tried so many over the years, but no.

LOVE LOVE that necklace. How pretty would it be against a simple black background?

    1. I agree, but faux wrap dresses work well for me. Its the actual true wrap that doesn't work well on us, I think. Too bad, because they are so pretty.
Thank you for the compliment on the necklace. I think I will try it out out on an all black outfit. Thanks for the suggestion!
