Blue Shoes..and...pink dress comp photos...

I haven't really been liking my outfits photos in the last couple of days.....

This is what I wore teaching today...I'm not pleased with the way the sweater is pulling.  I ended up unbuttoning it after I saw the photos and like it much better, but didn't have a chance to reshoot.

.....I do love the soft grey pointelle sweater...

and these shoes!  They were a T.J. Maxx clearance item that I purchased last year.  Super comfy.  The only caveat is that I had to put a non-skid pad on the soles...super slippery.  When I got them, I checked them out online and saw a red pair too. I wanted them badly.  Surprise, surprise when I found the red pair a few weeks ago at the Maxx...my size, on clearance, nearly a year later....

Beloved necklace.....

A friend of mine snapped these pictures of my American Smooth competition performance.  Overall...I'm pretty happy with them....but I can look at this and see mistakes.  For example; my left hand, should not be on his shoulder until the right hand has connected with his!  Shame on me.

Oh gosh....crazy spread out fingers...hahaha!

I love this one.....I look so emotional!  Its funny.  This is open work in the American Smooth Waltz.

Tango drama.....very nice form and movement....love the skirt 'swoosh'

This one makes me laugh too.  This is an American Smooth Tango and out position is very good...but our expressions!  We look so mean, so aggressive!  Actually, although I don't like the contortion of my face, this does capture the stalking aggressive character of Tango.  My favorite dance.

I just look so happy here.  I AM happy when I dance.....its the most wonderful feeling......

Anyone want to dance yet?  Have I convinced you?

  1. You look great in those shoes and on the dance floor. I went to a Women's Wine thingy last night and one of the speakers was an image consultant who specifically said a great pair of cobalt blue pumps (or red, plum, etc) are a fantastic way to jazz up a wardrobe. But of course you already know this. :)

    1. I hadn't thought of it in those terms...but I suppose they are. Oh now I want some plum pumps!!!!

  2. Lisa, my husband and I are going to use our costume prize winnings (we won a $200 punch card for dance lessons) to do "Date Night" dances at the studio. Every Friday they introduce the couples (it's couples only) to a new dance, and show us how to do it, in a very general way. I'm really excited and you're part of the reason why!

You do look so happy in (most of!) those pictures! Thank you for sharing them.

I like today's outfit - the shoes are awesome!

Please be sure to share your impressions of your dance lessons with me. I can't wait to see how you like it. I'm doing a little happy dance now...because I love to share the joy of dance.

  3. You look so amazing on the dance floor. Seeing these photos makes me want to take more ballroom classes. I took salsa, rumba and tango some years back and loved it. Those blue shoes you are wearing in your outfit photo are really cute.

    1. Thank you, Terri. Good to see you back and circulating in the blogosphere again.

Dancing is the best thing I've ever done for myself. It makes me happy.

  5. Such a lovely outfit! I adore the fact that your a cardigan and pencil skirt fan, too. The sweater didn't pull too much there, don't worry. It hugged, more than pulled, and looked just lovely on you, gorgeous gal.

  6. I would love to even do a the most basic dance...ballroom dancing is so amazing and takes a lot of practice and coordination. I truly do not have any coordination :)

Love your blue shoes and lucky girl that you got them in red too!

    1. Alice, you would be surprised at how easily a good instructor and some practice could help you learn to dance well.
I'm not so coordinated either, believe me. You should see me try to do 'Just Dance' games.....my older sons make fun of me all the time...because I just look so awkward and they say "mom are you sure you're a dancer'?

  7. I absolutely love seeing the pictures of your dancing; so graceful and beautiful, and reading your own critique of form; very interesting since I cannot see incorrect posture myself!

    1. Thank you, Carolyn. There are so many layers of 'correct' posture; once one thing is perfected, there is another thing to add to make it better!

  8. I have the same problem with sweaters pulling… perhaps I will try some discreetly-placed safety pins and see how it goes.

You look so happy dancing. I may take lessons in a year or so, I'm taking care of some other things first…

    1. I am really happy dancing. Its such a joyful activity. Once you get ready to take lessons, let me know and I can give you some pointers on how to choose a GOOD studio.

I don't know if I would try safety pins! I'm always worried about them opening up and poking me...its happened. I think as far as this particular cardi...its a bit small for me. It was on sale and I said..."I'll make it work" because I loved it so much!

  9. Oh wow, those bright blue shoes are stunning! They really jazz up the whole outfit and add such a beautiful pop of color.
I LOVE your competition photos! that pink dress has the best movement, I really like the "swoosh" of it as well, it must be so fun dancing in it! You have such beautiful form in your photos, plus you look so happy and joyful in the first photograph. :)

  10. What beautiful photos of you dancing! You look stunning! And those shoes are adorable! And I'm like you, I seem to find good shoes, and end up putting non-slid pads, and for some reason, for me, it doesn't end up working! You're going to have to share your secrets!

    1. Clare...I don't know if I have any secrets to making them work....the non-skid pads that you stick on the bottom stay on better if you scuff the bottom a bit. The ones that you put on the inside to keep the toes from sliding forward...don't work at all! I put a full cushion in all my shoes...my dancer's feet are fussy!
      Thank you for the compliment!

You can look that graceful. I have a wonderful coach and he's helped me out so much. It takes some time...but its so worth the effort.

I have to admit that i enjoy seeing others dance and DO dance once in a blue moon but it's not my thing. I lack coordination.

    1. Lorena....its funny, lots of people say they lack coordination...but dance is not really about that. Its learning how to specifically position and move the body to generate the look and movement you wish to achieve. Its technical and a good teacher can show you that. Its not for everyone, I agree.
I'm glad you enjoy watching dance anyway!
