Navy Dress Inspiration: My Look

I have added my rendition of this dress to the post.  I shopped my closet of thrifted dresses to create a look that is inspired by the pricey dress below.

I love this classic dress and the simple clean lines.  I cannot afford this particular dress, but I do have a thrifted dress that is similar and decided to style it on Polyvore before styling my own.

Navy Dress Inspiration

This dress has a similar cut but lacks the embellishment and the gathers at the neckline.

There are gathers at the waist which is very flattering on a curvy or pear shaped figure.

I had to buy some new sunnies....my Juicy Couture sunglass have mysteriously disappeared.  I like these Brighton sunglasses and they were a fraction of the price of the missing pair.

This picture just makes me happy.  This is my precious Brady...my first grandchild.  I love that full out, head tipped back happy laughter!

    1. I have grown to love shopping my own closet and its taken a lot of work to get to this point....even to get to the point of thrifting. Now, I would not have it any other way.

  3. Wow, I love this outfit! And regarding your comment on my blog, I love the Tudors as well. I'm actually a professional historian of Stuart and Tudor Britain (I just graduated in May with my PhD from Yale).

    1. Wow....congrats on the PhD. I'm sure your Tudor history far exceeds mine! I have to say that although I loved the show The Tudors....I found many details to be historically inaccurate but the costumes were delicious!

I've read everything I know of about Anne Boleyn; I'm fascinated by her. If you have any book recommendations...I would be very happy!

      Thank you for the compliment.

  4. I'm a pear so this dress would work for me. I love it! I do have a hard time finding dresses that are cut right for my figure, it's frustrating.
    You look faaaaaantastic in it!

    1. It is very frustrating! I have had to do a lot of closet editing in order to be at peace with my dress wardrobe and my exaggerated pear shape. I have found that anything with too much fullness in the skirt just makes my bottom have look even bigger. Most of the time; I choose the right dress....but as you can see in some of my past posts, I have made a few mistakes...and those dresses have been edited out!

      Thank you for the compliment!

  8. As adorable as that picture is...it's not possible for you to be old enough to be a grandmother.

You look stunning in that dress!!!

    1. Melissa, Its so nice to hear that. I do think the camera hides much of my 'grandma-ness'; I think I look better in the pictures than in reality. I don't retouch the pictures, but the 'squinting lines' on my face don't really show up on camera! (I don't mind that at all).

I won't complain about the compliments, though! I am in fact a very proud Granny!!!
