This is My Casual

This is what I might wear to a high school football game or to a fall festival or to a night at the pumpkin patch for a hay ride.  I love the grey trousers, but might change them to a grey jean with the same flattering bootcut.  A white button down shirt or long sleeve tee shirt and a warm colorful scarf looks great with the grey.  I own a beautiful, sturdy pair of Clark brogue style shoes with a slightly chunkier heel than the ones pictured so they are more practical and every bit as stylish.

(I don't own a gold locket, but have wanted one since I was a child...hmmmm...maybe I need to get hubby on that!  My husband doesn't ever buy gifts to surprise me and I don't ask him to since he has been very generous by paying for the majority of my dance lessons and the pink and green ballroom gowns that I own. His generosity with my ballroom obsession is one of the many reasons that I thrift most of my clothing). This is My Casual
A black cross body purse, black belt and dark brown leather jacket finish the look nicely.

I included the Vera Bradly 'Safari Sunset' stadium blanket, because fall evenings get cold.  I purchased this blanket today at a consignment shop for $20.00 brand new with tags still attached!  I love Vera prints, but I don't like to carry fabric bags, so I get my pattern fix with this.

I know this looks a bit too dressy to be casual for some people, but to me, this is my casual.

Delightful Orchid Dress

Delightful Orchid Dress

When I saw this dress on polyvore, I dug to the back of my closet to find this Dress Barn dress that I have never worn.  In the photo, my dress looks more blue, but in reality it is the exact same shade of orchid as the dress in the set.  The cut is similar too, but mine has a draped neck, and has rouching instead of a side gather.  I really like this dress, but since nearly all of the events I attend are dance related and there is usually dancing, I haven't worn it.  It's very stretchy, but it fits too close to the body to allow the long strides and sweeping movement that is characteristic of ballroom.  I need to just wear it.  I took this picture to help me decide if I like dress enough to keep it.  I really do like it.  Now I need to accessorize it.  I adore the emerald accessories but don't have any.  I do own silver, gold, rhinestone and black accessories and could do any of those, but the emerald is really dramatic.  I might have to make a trip to Charming Charlie for some affordable pieces in emerald.  CC's is a great place to find just about any color or accessory that you need to pull a look together.  I'm happy that I saw the dress above because it has reminded me that I have what I need for special occasions in my own closet.  I just need to dig in a get creative with accessories.

Ballroom Dance Party!

On most Friday nights, I attend a studio Ballroom dance party.  This Friday I will be attending a party at Gotta Dance and want to wear a new jumpsuit that I found for $19.99 at TJ Maxx.  My jumpsuit is cut similar to this, but the top has a black and white abstract print and the bottom is solid.

It's important to wear very comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely when dancing, and clothing that helps you stay cool...three hours of non-stop dance can get very hot! I love the playful look of this outfit.
