This will probably be my last post until after the competition on Friday.
I'm pushing through the mountain of homework that was assigned during the first week of class. I need to be well rested and up to date on all of my work and homework.
This weekend blazed by in a flurry of readings, homework, students emailing technical questions regarding a new online Human Development lab, visiting my mom who was hospitalized yesterday, representing the guardianship services organization I volunteer with at a health fair and finalizing some arrangements for one of the clients I guardian for.
I feel just a tiny bit behind and frazzled.
Plus, I needed to find time to practice, practice, practice...oh and be a mom...and babysit my grandson. Sigh...deep breath.
Blogging soothes me...it helps me summarize my week and sharpen my focus on goals for the new week.
Calvin Kline dress; Nine West sandals; Lia Sophia necklace |
This is what I wore to practice for the comp. Super hot day, but awesome practice. I feel good, confident, like a contender.
Dress Barn dress; Adrienne Vittadini scarf; Ann Klein iflex shoes |
This is how I dressed to represent the organization.
I stopped by Walgreens to pick up my falsies for the comp. Yep....without them dancer's faces would fade away under the lights and sparkle.
I hope everyone has a great week. I'm looking forward to getting through the week and getting to the comp.
I will be peeking in on everyone and comment on your posts...but I'm getting my work done and getting my head into dance mode...
I'm gearing up.........
Lisa--It sounds like you are so busy, but have your priorities in the right place. when life calms down, I'd love to see a tutorial on applying those false eyelashes! Good luck with the competition.
ReplyDeleteThe lashes are a challenge, Terri. And instead of applying them to follow the curve all the way to the outer end of the lash line...I follow the curve from the inner edge of lash line to the 3/4 point and then it continues at a very slight upward slant...it opens the eyes WAY UP! Its a ball roomer's trick that you wouldn't want to do in real life!
DeleteI wil think about doing the tutorial....
I love the look of false lashes but am terrible at putting them on - I end up with one falling off half way through dancing very often!
ReplyDeleteLove your barn dress and I did a double take on reading "grandson" - I'd have never guessed you were a grandmother!
Good luck for the competition!
Thank you!
DeleteI have gotten pretty good at applying false lashes. The venue is quite a bit different for ballroom so we have to have them. I haven't ever lost one dancing...I hope I never do!
You look fantastic in both dresses. This style really looks fabulous on you! Good luck at the competition. Can't wait to hear all about it!
ReplyDeleteThank you....I look forward to sharing the comp expetience with everyone.
DeleteGood luck with your preparation this week. I hope your Mom is okay. Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteThank you on both counts Sheila...I appreciate your thoughts.
Deleteyour striped dress is so cute on you!
ReplyDeletehope you did well at the competition!

Hi Lyddie...thank you for the compliment. I will be competing on Friday and hopefully on Sunday I will share a photo journal of the experience.
DeleteGood luck at the competition - I'm sure you'll be brilliant!

Courtney....I'm excited about it and not at all nervous...umm...except for one thing...MY HAIR! As long as the hair works out everything else follows!
DeleteThank you Courtney. I'm very excited!
ReplyDeleteWow, you have had quite the week. I hope everything settles down a little and goes smoothly for you from here on out.
ReplyDeleteI really love your second outfit here, the one you wore to the health fair, the drapping on this dress makes it look so expensive and the scarf is so very stylish. (And I always love hearing the little bits about your dancing, it's so interesting and really fasinating!)
Thank you, Katie. I'm very excited to compete and ready for this week to wind down!
DeleteWow no wonder you took it easy this summer. Love the pics. You always seem so happy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliment. When a new semester begins, its aways a little too busy. I have quite a bit on my plate, but one of my guardianship cases ended so it should ease a bit!
DeleteWow! Busy life! You look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your competition! Hope we get to see some photos. :)
I will definitely be sharing photos....
DeleteDress looks amazing on you...definitely dangerous curves!

Thank you, Iva! I stopped by your blog and left a comment for you.
DeleteI've never used false lashes but I bet they're kind of fun to experiment with. Maybe I'll try it. But I certainly can't dance without falling down. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou look so shapely and sexy in that brown dress with the scarf over the top. Wonderful! That is really a great photo!
Thank you for the compliment, Joni! That dress is doing a lot of work to whip me into 'shape'!
DeleteFalse lashes are fun to wear but they take some time to learn to apply. Terri had suggested a tutorial and maybe I will do one sometime.
You have the best collection of dresses! The brown is both stunning and very appropriate and like what the scarf adds to the outfit. I like the stripped one too, but the brown is my favorite out of these two dresses. Are you really a grandmother? I can't believe it!
ReplyDeleteI am a grandmother. :)
DeleteThank you for the compliment....I really love wearing dresses.
I love your striped dress!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the competition!
I really really hope your mom feels better.
Thank you for all of your good wishes. Taking time to breathe and enjoy before the big day!
DeleteLisa!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the competition!! And I'm sorry about your mother - I hope she is doing better. You look gorgeous in that striped dress, and perfectly polished in the business outfit! Thanks for the recommendation to take salsa lessons! I had started with my husband, and we missed a couple of classes bc of his work. He said we could retake lessons, but we haven't yet. I need to REMIND him that we do! :)
xo, sam

Thank you for you kind words. Let me know how you like your Salsa lessons. Its so much fun to dance with your spouse. Mine really doesn't dance much..work conflicts too...but when he did, he enjoyed it.
DeleteHe doesn't do the competitions with me.....I'm at a higher level than he is, but I really would love for him to get more serious about it. If your husband will dance with you then you are a very lucky wife! Seriously, its a great activity for couples.
good luck with the competition!! and hope your mother is doing better, blogging soothes me too
