Have Mercy...Date Night

I'm linking to Patti's Visible Monday  post because I feel very visible in this bright fuchsia top, colorful necklace and swingy skirt.  I rely on a black and white color palette often, but with spring just around the corner, I'm feeling a visceral craving to add so bright, happy color.  Both of these pieces were purchased *retail* at Dress Barn.  I guess I'm doffing my typical tradition of black and white.I loved wearing this for date night last night.  I enjoy wearing clothes that make me feel vibrant while allowing me to not feel constricted or uncomfortable; in other words clothes that I can put on and forget and still feel special.

I supposed I did stick to my accessory tradition of wearing Lia Sophia jewelry.  I have to be honest and admit that when I first saw this piece in the new spring catalog....I didn't like it AT ALL.  As the weather started to get a little bit warmer, the necklace began to grow on me and now I LOVE IT!
Its much prettier than it appears in this picture.  It was difficult to capture the vibrance of the colors, sparkle and shine.  The tiny flowers are actually a pale apricot color,  and the dark blue petals on the second 'flower' from the right are actually a beautiful violet shade.  The entire piece is very sparkly and colorful.

These earrings are also more vibrant than they appear and they match the color on the leaves of the rhinestone daisy on the far right of the necklace.  The houndstooth patterned tights were just fun.  We went to a improv comedy show last night and had so much fun.  We needed a good lighthearted 'laughing date'.

The necklace to the left is one of the new spring Lia Sophia pieces that I am eager to wear.  Again, its not my typical neutral piece....but spring has my heart right now and this piece feels like spring. In my last post, I mentioned that I purchase a kit of 10 pieces that are meant to be given as prizes at LS shows.  I mentioned that there were three that I fell in love with and decided to keep.  One was the bracelet in my last post and these earrings and the necklace below are the other two.

Both so beautiful, I just had to keep them.

Monday.....is job search day.
I will be sending some documents to the local DCS (child protective services department) as part of a pre-screening process they have requested.  I had submitted a resume and was surprised to hear from them within just a few days.
I'm also applying in person for another human services job tomorrow.
Of course I am continuing my studies, but I'm ready to re-enter the work force.

Enjoy your day, lovely ladies!

  5. Date night - I need one of those! My son is way attached to us and we have not been on a date in a long time. BTW - I am really loving your floral necklace - I can imagine you wearing it with so many different outfits!

I had the same situation with my son when he was younger. He is eight now, but up until he was about 5 or 6 it was very difficult to get him to accept staying with someone else so that we could get out alone. I promise you this period of his life will not last; he will begin to desire some independence soon. Peyton was very attached to us too at your son's age!

    1. I do think it has a retro vibe, Adrienne. I'm surprised that there has been such a positive response to the necklace considering that I didn't like it at first! I love it now, though.

  7. Good luck on your job hunt! That can be so stressful.

Love you in this bright fuscia - I think colour near the face is really important, and a black and white palette is so good for that. Lovely jewelry.

    1. Its funny how we crave those more neutral of darker, less vibrant 'comfort colors' when the weather is colder, but then when spring approaches we crave vibrancy!

  12. That rich, juicy, feminine shade of raspberry looks radiantly pretty on you. This time of year calls for punchy, cheerful hues like that to help celebrate spring's return. Fantastic outfit, dear Lisa!

  13. Oh that necklace is divine! It's so perfect for spring. I hope you will wear it often. As for dance, my son seems to be trying to decide whether he likes it as much as he likes track and swim. He wants ME to compete with him at a dance competition in May where it can be one student and one parent. The dances are the merengue and the foxtrot. I told him I'm down with that program, let's do this thing! Now he's got to teach me the steps. Oh dear. I will keep you posted! XO, Jill

Thank you for the compliment. I really wasn't sure when I purchased the necklace...but I've had nothing but positive feedback!

  14. You do such a great job dressing your curvy figure... really, you are a classic. Particularly this combo!
You look like an hour-glass figure to me. Surely not smoke and mirrors. Regardless, you write an inspiring post.

  15. Fuchsia is a wonderful color, and I like the name fuchsia too! You look very pretty in this outfit, but you always do!
I did some shopping yesterday, all the new spring pieces were too tempting! I came home with two white tops, and one black! I think I have been influenced by you! I can't wait to show the pieces at the blog, two peplum tops and one lace top, I just can't get enough of lace this spring.

The second necklace is adorable, and your tights are terrific!
I keep my fingers crossed for your job hunt!

I am looking forward to seeing your new pieces on the blog too. I love peplums. I thought that they might not look good on a curvy girl (like me) but I was wrong...they look good on everyone.

Do you have a Kohl's store there? Or maybe online access? That's where I purchased the tights and I really love them!
