Newsboy Cap

I'm in love.  With this adorable hat that I purchased today.
I don't know the correct name for this style hat, but I call it a Newsboy Cap.

Do any of you know what its really supposed to be called?
I wish the quality of these photos was better.  I was reluctant to post, but I loved wearing this casual outfit today and just had to post it.

While running errands today, I ducked into this neat little shop  called "The Copper Butterfly" and found this hat.  I bought one in grey and black houndstooth also.  The Copper Butterfly is one of those lovely boutique gift shops filled with plenty of things you don't need but you desperately want.  I drooled over scarves and hats and jewelry (although I won't buy jewelry now that I'm selling Lia Sophia) and wraps and lacy and gold and girly things.  This store is all about frippery. (Cousin Rhonda...if you read this; yes frippery, thank you this word!)

Before I purchased it, I had to snap a picture to see if my eyes were telling me the truth about how it looked on me.  I wore it out of the store.  I love, love, love it!
Don't you just love this green framed mirror?  I need to go back and take a better picture of the mirror.

This is thrifted Eddie Bauer shirt that I purchased at Goodwill for $5.00. It has two tiny vertical rows of ruffles.  I wore it under......

....this cardigan.  The pleats are chiffon-like fabric.  I purchased this sweater at yet another "mystery" store that I won't name....who's clothes are of dubious quality.
I've only worn this sweater twice now, but after the first wearing the pilling began.  I'm disappointed because I love the feminine detail on this cardi.  There is a celebrity designer's name attached to this sweater and I can't imagine she would be happy knowing that sweater 'pilled' after the first wearing.  Still, I'm hoping I can get a bit more wear out of it, because the chiffon pleats are so precious.

This scarf tied everything together and kept me neck warm; I'm still recovering from being sick, so I definately want to keep my neck warm and covered.

I forgot to post this in my last thrift haul post; its an Eddie Bauer cardigan from Goodwill ($5.00) I fell hard for the soft lilac color.

I've always struggled with casual clothing and layering, but its getting a little easier.  I was very pleased with this outfit.  I don't wear jeans often, but I might be more inspired to bust them out more than I have in the past.

It was a beautiful and unseasonably warm day today.  Sunshiny and calm.  I am thankful.

  2. Wearing this, you should be hawking newspapers: "Germany surrenders! The war is over!"

  3. I think newsboy cap is the correct name. I wore a cap like that when I was an orphan boy in "Oliver Twist" in the 4th grade.

    It looks amazing on you!

    1. Alice.....I never used to wear hats. I always wanted to, but never thought they looked good one me. It used to be that hats were made for larger heads than mine, but now they are available in a variety of sizes and many are small enough for me. I think you just have to be on the lookout for hats that will work for you.
