Monday Morning and a weekend outfit...!

The weekend is never long enough.  I shouldn't complain; technically I only have a three day school/work week if I don't count writing papers at home and grading papers.
The weather has been perfect; sunny, not too warm.

Damask top, thrifted@Goodwill; black pencil skirt,  Dana Buchman, thrifted
When this slightly cooler weather arrives, I wear black most days.  Its a good neutral and its what I feel best in.

I started the morning with more layers; it was chilly, but forecasted to get warmer and it did.  Off came the layers.

Zebra scarf, Dress Barn; Red Cardigan, thrifted!

I adore these Liz Claiborne two toned pumps.

........and that little boutique shop necklace that is so versatile

I love this little Coach; I purchased it used and its in very good condition.  There is some wearing on the bottom but its so minor it just gives the purse character.
You might be wondering what happened to that gorgeous Rebecca Minkhoff bag....well, it was returned.  NOT because I felt bad for spending so much (though I did) but because it would not stay closed!  The clasp on the flap would open up and risk spilling the contents every time I picked it up!  I really loved that bag, but I knew that I would end up hating it; function is the number one feature for me regarding purses, followed closely by beauty.  I did purchased two very gently used Coach mini's and a new B. Makowski little black bag for a third of what I paid for the rebecca bag.

New York and Company curvy bootcut jeans.  Comfy!!
Sunday was a very casual day and cool enough for jeans.  I almost never wear them.  I'm too hippy and thick in the thighs to wear them comfortably.  I did feel okay in this outfit, even though it is a jean outfit.

Smile by Invisalign!  It was three years ago today that I wore my last Invisalign retainer.  I'm really happy with the results.  I waited for what seemed to be forever to get braces and now that they have done their trick..I get to smile more!  What would I have ever done without them!
If you are considering these braces but can't make the leap...contact me; it was worth every penny and moment of pain.  I would do it aging in a heartbeat!

I hope Sunday and Monday were good days for all of you.  The weekends are flying by way too quickly!

  1. I think you look great in your jeans, Lisa! Here's to hips and thighs! They're what propels us along, whether on the dance floor, or on the playing field, or just through life. We have curves, and we should be kinder to ourselves about them!

    1. Thank you Sheila. I know I am tough on myself regarding that feature. I feel OK in those jeans; better than I usually do in other jeans! Thanks for reminding to appreciate what 'propels' me on the dance floor!

    1. I love that little Zebra scarf so much I bought two of them. A classmate was telling me she was going to steal mine so often I started to believe she would and got the extra one!

  4. You look really great in your jeans. I think no matter what your size and shape, just like Stacy and Clinton say, dark wash mid rise flare is flattering on just about everyone! The white blazer is a great pick with the jeans too. Oh and your two tone pumps are gorgeous :) Heather

  5. You look great in you jeans and I just love the necklace!!! It's weird how cold weather just hit us here in NY. These last couple of days I've been wearing a sweater in the morning. Transition time is coming!

    1. I hope that I can figure out something I want to do tomorrow! I don't love any exercise except for dancing and boxing....and I stick to dancing since it is my FIRST love and I just can't do it all!

  9. You are rockin' the bootcuts! And looking far sharper on campus than I have been lately. Had not realized that you wore the Invisalign. I'd love to see a post on how you felt about smiling before you had that done.

    1. That's a good idea for a post, Terri.

Thanks for the compliment. I still believe that I need to tone those thighs down a bit, but at least I can tolerate these jeans!

  10. I love love love the Liz Claiborne pumps and those bootcut jeans fit you marvelously.
I see from previous posts that you bought burgundy shoes, try pairing them with pink, the combination looks awesomw.

    1. I have a carnation pink pencil skirt that I could pair with the burgundy shoes. I will have to think about a top to wear with it. Maybe an ivory lace top and a scarf that has pink and burgundy in it if I can find one.

I really love the pumps...do you have a DSW store near you? This year they have the same shoe with black and dark tan and they are gorgeous too.

  11. Oh my word, I utterly adore that black and white damask print shirt. I have such a passion for chic damask like that (a beloved rug in my craft room features very similar B&W damask).

Thank you very much for your blog comment this week, I really appreciate it and hope you're having a beautiful weekend.

    1. Jessica, thank you for stopping by. I enjoy your blog. I love damask. I had wanted a damask top so badly and the next thing you know..there it is at the Goodwill store, staring me in the face.
