Hi everyone......please forgive my brazen self promotion here...
Most of my pictures from the competition are in and I'm very pleased. My posture is excellent and this is what I have worked so hard for. My teacher is incredible. I'm so thankful that I am his student. Sometimes teachers of his caliber are a bit stuffy and standoffish...but not Marcel. He's a talented instructor and he's fun and personable.
I have another comp on the 12 of October and this time I will be dancing American Smooth instead of my usual International Standard. Basically, its a scheduling issue, but the teach seems to think I'm better at Smooth. Hmmmm. I love Standard...but I'll settle for Smooth ;)
I'm just happy to compete.
This is at my most recent comp, The Windy City Open. My posture is very good here.....we are connected at the ribs...but my upper body is away; the greater the distance the better. This is one area that I have great confidence in and the pictures...in comparison to other's postures...bear this out. OK....I'm being a bit of a prima donna, but believe me, I'm well aware of all the other things I need to work on!
I'm so pleased with these pictures. Thank you for indulging my little brag.
I hope you enjoy them.
I wish I could dance when I look at pictures like this. Beautiful. X
ReplyDeleteOh you can you can. And I think somewhere over on your side of the ocean....there is Blackpool....
DeleteYou look amazing. And you should brag all you want. If I could dance, it would be all I'd talk about.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Gracey
Well I always say that you can dance if you put your mind to and of course find a fabulous teacher like mine. Seriously, he is behind my success as a dancer; he is that good.
DeleteThank you for the compliment!!!
Wow, you must be super proud. You look like a pro:) Love the outfit and the poses. I can tell you've worked really hard on them:))
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joanna.....I have worked hard, but I have to give credit where its due; my teacher is the force behind my proper dance posture. It is not easy, but he has been able to bring it out of me. No other teacher has been able to do this like he does.
DeleteThanks for being such a loyal reader :)
So elegant. What wonderful images.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I'm glad you enjoy them.
DeleteThanks for sharing your photos Lisa ... they're awesome. A little self promotion is always allowed and its good to be pleased with your progress you've worked hard at it. I would love to give ballroom dancing a try sometime.
ReplyDeleteWendy....I ALWAYS encourage others to try ballroom dancing.
DeleteThank you for showing these...and please! take credit for your hard work where and when due. Ballroom dancing is a great discipline and you are mastering it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThank you...it is difficult at the competition level and even socially..just to do everything in a way that works with your partner. Worth every minute though! Thank you.
DeleteVery impressive. You deserve to be proud. Reaching this high with your dancing aspirations is wonderful to watch and must be so joyful to pursue. Thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shybiker. It is joyful. Dance releases so much positive energy. I adore it. Thank you reading.
DeleteHow fun! THanks for sharing! I enjoyed learning about the ribs and the posture and stuff, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you......it is so much fun.
DeleteLe sigh. I really wish there were ballroom dresses that *don"t* twirl up to show legs. So I would wear them!!! So dreamy....
ReplyDeleteThere are some ballroom dress with less 'swoosh' factor (that's a Sheila@Ephemera term). But they look best when they have a lot of swoosh. Here's a little secret....many of us wear fishnet stockings under out dresses. Fishnets make everyone's legs look better! I love them. Kohls carries some Vera Wang fishnets that I buy like crazy...they are soft and don't cut into your skin.
DeleteThere are other reasons we wear them as dancers...and that's because they help our shoes stay one and give some cushion against the friction of the shoes. But mostly, I wear them because of what they do for my legs....
If you try them...go one slight shade darker than your skin if possible. It think you will like them.
You look so elegant and completely graceful! Thanks for giving us some the technical info too, when I watch ballroom dancing I love the beauty of the twirling and admire the ladies bending backwards like that, but I didn't know what are the technical elements to look out for. And I just love your magnificent dress too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Carolyn. I just purchased the white and brown dress at the last competition. I really love it.
DeleteThere is so much technique involved in dancing well and in perfect synchronicity with your partner. I have so far to go.
I have said it before but it is worth saying again, that dress is so beautiful and it fits you so well!
ReplyDeleteThank you...I really got lucky finding that dress!
DeleteWow wow wow! Lisa! You look so beautiful and graceful!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this! I wish I could do this!
Thank you. You can do this. I am a trip-over-my-own-feet kind of gal...but I can do it. Maybe a hint to the hubby for a birthday or anniversary present...ballroom lessons!
