Quick post!

Just a quick outfit post!  I'm working tomorrow....training in the local county office for 4 days and then I head back to Indy.  I took a quick outfit picture for a casual grocery shopping day with my pal Suzi.
I'm loving the ease and comfort of skinnies!
I'm not happy with my weight right now, or the chubbiness in my face....
so I'm trying to make some changes.
I need a boost of support as I try once again to take better care of myself and become more fit and healthy.

I hope you are all doing well!

Job training in Indianapolis

 I'm home for a week!
I will be training at my home county and then will return to Indy for two weeks.
I didn't really get any outfit pictures; I was just so busy and don't have my precious Peyton with me to take photos.  Once I get all of this travel/packing and learning down to a science I will get back to regular blogging, but I will be a bit out of the picture for short time.  I'll try to get a few while I'm there. Until then, I'm still peeking at your blogs, commenting and enjoying them.  Hope you don't forget about me!

Indianapolis is our state Capitol and its just beautiful.  I would move there in a minute if the opportunity arose.
After I arrived at the hotel on Sunday night, I just settle in to relax for the big first day of the new job on Monday.  This corridor is where I took my first steps onto the state court buildings to begin my training....the corridor goes on and on....for what seems like forever.

The state Capitol building.

Indy is full of beautiful architecture; I fell in love with this walk way between buildings.

Inside the state Capitol building.  I felt so official and so small.  It's difficult to describe the visceral feelings I was experiencing about being in this place and what it means to start of my career as a new government employee.

A pay phone booth inside the state Capitol building.  I haven't seen one of these in twenty years!

Walking down the marble steps of the Capitol after being sworn in.

I couldn't resist taking this picture of the ornate doors through which the new cohort of trainees entered the Capitol for the swearing in ceremony.

I tried to eat really well and didn't hesitate to have a delicious salad for nearly every meal!

Isn't this gorgeous?  Behind it lies the elevator to one of the training sites.  I didn't take the elevator though....I took the four flights of stairs every time.  I just knew that I had to get past my desire to eat rich foods and enjoy this work trip like it was a vacation...

A weekend memorial day ceremony to honor fallen soldiers....
On our Friday lunch break, we walked to the Monument Circle for lunch and enjoyed this opportunity to pay respects to the men and women who believe in our country and maintaining its freedoms.

Training went well.  I enjoyed learning all the new aspects of the new job and exploring Indy.  I've fallen in love with this city.
I'm looking forward to going back in June.

It's Go Time!

My camera is back!
Hi everyone....thank you for the good wishes and support you've extended to me during my break.
I've been busy.
In addition to preparing for my trip to Indianapolis to train for my new job, I've tried to fit in some lunches with my ladies.  I wanted to squeeze that in before I'm trying to adjust to working FULL TIME again for the first time in 9 years.  Of course between school, my volunteer work, my teaching and research assistantship, selling Mary Kay and Lia Sophia and working on my Master's thesis.....I do work a full time schedule...
But that was more flexible than a traditional full time job in social services.
I'm am excited!!!
I though I should do a post since I have my camera back.

I had a nice lunch with my pal Rose today and we explored our home town.

Cute display at one of the many antique dealers in town.

"I'll just sit here.....I hope they don't POP"

The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind......had to get fingerprinted, drug tested and consent to a background check for the new job.  I cleaned, purged and organized my home so that my oldest son, his wife and baby could move in to help with Peyton while I'm gone.  I organized EVERY SINGLE nook, cranny, cabinet and drawer in my home.  Every single, tiny, thing from pillows to safety pins has a special place.  I got rid of piles and piles of things that were not either function, beautiful or necessary. I did all of this to make it easy for my family to function while I'm away.
I hope I don't come home to a messy house.  I hope they can function without me.
Most of all.....I hope everyone is safe and sound.
That's my biggest concern.  :)

I leave Sunday............

Taking a short blogging break :(

Hello my dear blogging friends!
I will be taking a short break from posting so that I can prepare to leave town for training for my new job.  I have one week to prepare and that includes finishing the lower level of my house so that my son and his family can move in to help Peyton get to school and help care for him while I'm gone.
Job training is 12 weeks and I will travel back and forth to Indianapolis for 80% of that time.

We are still in the dry-finishing stage and still need to paint and lay floors, so I am definitely under some serious time constraints.  Yep, I'm stressed.

Breaking my camera is also an issue!

My plan is to purchase a second back up camera if mine is not repaired in time for my Indy trip.  I want to photo document and post my trip and outfits.

I will miss posting, but I will return to it sometime after the 20th of this month.
I'll still be peeking at your blogs and commenting, but I will miss blogging!

See you soon!!!

Easy Casual

Uh oh!  I dropped my camera.  Thank goodness I have a warranty....except its going to take 2 to 4 weeks to get it back!  I have to leave for Indianapolis for the new job before then, so it looks like I'm buying a back up.  It was not my good DSLR thankfully, but my Nikon coolpix which goes everywhere with me.  I think I'll make a trip to best buy tomorrow and be back to posting outfits in a day or two.

In the meantime...this is a very close facsimile of the outfit I wore today; denim skinnies, a white button down, coral cardigan and accessories.  The necklace is the only thing that doesn't represent a piece that I wore, but I did wear one with the same colors as this one.

I've been trying out more casual looks a couple times a week; this is something I'm not in the habit of doing, but since I found skinnies that work I'm having fun with it!  The right skinnies feel a bit more dressed up to me than boot cut.

Speaking of 'boot cut', I really can't wait to get my camera back so I can share my gorgeous, funky new cowboy boots with you.  I plan to wear them with skirts and to have them for the next ten years...next post!  A little teaser....they are inspired by boots I saw Nancy Wilson of band Heart wearing 20 years ago!
